WASTE officers are looking for a fly-tipper who was caught on a hidden camera.

Residents are being asked for information on the fly-tipper who dumped waste and partially blocked Bottom Lane, Seer Green.

The Ford Transit pick-up truck was caught on August 19 at 10.30am by a hidden surveillance camera which had been set up in Bottom Lane, Seer Lane.

Waste Partnership spokesman, David Carroll, said: "This driver has chosen a quiet country lane to dump waste, thinking he would not be seen.

"He dumped waste across the road making it dangerous for other users.

"He did not realise that there was a hidden camera there waiting 24 hours a day, seven days a week to catch him. We hope the public will be able to help our investigation."

Images from the camera show the dumping taking place and it is now being investigated.

The waste was removed from the road within five hours.

If you have any information regarding this incident, or in any other lanes in the area, ring The Waste Partnership for Buckinghamshire on 0845 330 1856.

A hidden surveillance camera that doesn't get the licence plates. What good is that?

This driver has chosen a quiet country lane to dump waste thinking he would not be seen
And he hasn’t been seen clearly so it was a good choice!

Not only is there the waste on the lorry but there is the waste of tax payers money installing the new-fangled camera that only got half the picture.

If we could dispose of waste easily at the public waste disposal sites there would be a reduction in illegal tipping but sadly the recycling policies prevent people from getting rid of their rubbish properly. Being back weekly black bin collections for all!

And now anybody who knows where the fly tipping occurred, knows where the 'hidden' camera is located.

Another vacuous self-congratulatory press release from Bucks Waste Partnership, safely recycled.

I'm going to re-write the title of this piece for you.

"Hidden camera fails to capture waste dumper".

Then the article should have been all about how Council Tax money is wasted on idiotic schemes like this. Now don't get me wrong; fly-tipping is unacceptable - period. But, if the authorities are going to use technology to deal with this type of issue, then at least employ personnel who have some idea of what they're doing.

If the vehicle had been any bigger, all you'd have seen was a set of wheels!

And now they're asking for the help of Joe Public. Oh I get it... every time I see a white Transit tipper lorry, I'm supposed to telephone someone? Who? Wycombe Waste? The police? And say what? Give them a registration number (of course). Then what are they going to do? Go around knocking on the doors of everyone who owns a white Transit? I suspect that they won't be doing that.

Now, if they'd not only set up a camera (with a suitably wide-angled lens) and an ANPR camera, they'd all be behind bars by now.

Well actually no! Our wonderful magistrates would fine them 50p and send them away with fleas in their ears. But that's another rant...

Come on guys. One camera cannot be positioned to catch everything from every angle. And if they put several, people would complain about the cost. And it's not as if they can put such cameras along every bit of quiet road, is it?
