Half-lit roads in Bucks are a serious hazard

2:53pm Tuesday 23rd December 2008

ON December 12, your paper drew attention to the danger of walking on the road in the dark.

NHS care in Bucks was superb

2:59pm Tuesday 23rd December 2008

THE NHS is regularly subjected to criticism these days, so I thought I would write about my recent experience staying in the Waterside Unit at Amersham Hospital.

Wycombe's healthcare is better than Washington's

12:15pm Friday 19th December 2008

AS an American, led to think that the ‘socialised’ National Health Service is beset with bungling bureaucracy, long waits for treatment, and often inept medical care, I was pleasantly surprised by the highly professional, efficient, and caring attention I received last week at Wycombe Hospital’s Emergency Medical Centre and Minor Injuries Unit.

Why haven't High Wycombe station charges been reduced?

12:17pm Friday 19th December 2008

I RECENTLY noticed that the prices for parking at High Wycombe train station haven’t come down following the recent VAT reduction – which amounts to an increase in parking charges. Have any other other Chiltern stations amended their prices to reflect the VAT reduction?

Tories have a dreadful record over school speed zones

12:25pm Friday 19th December 2008

COUNCILLOR Colston’s reported comments (‘Plea for 20mph safety zones’) beg a serious political question. What urgent steps are the Bucks County Council Conservative leadership (of which Cllr Colston is a part), going to take to ensure that school slow zones are prioritised and that the resources necessary to implement such a policy are found? Not for the first time in your newspaper, local Conservative councillors are giving the impression that they have nothing to do with the policies and track record of their own administration. But the sad truth is that in Great Missenden, we are still waiting for many of the very basic and cheap road safety measures promised publicly to voters by Councillor Colston before the last county council elections in 2005 and for which there is ‘no money’.
