AS an American, led to think that the ‘socialised’ National Health Service is beset with bungling bureaucracy, long waits for treatment, and often inept medical care, I was pleasantly surprised by the highly professional, efficient, and caring attention I received last week at Wycombe Hospital’s Emergency Medical Centre and Minor Injuries Unit.

COUNCILLOR Colston’s reported comments (‘Plea for 20mph safety zones’) beg a serious political question. Not for the first time in your newspaper, local Conservative councillors are giving the impression that they have nothing to do with the policies and track record of their own administration. But the sad truth is that in Great Missenden, we are still waiting for many of the very basic and cheap road safety measures promised publicly to voters by Councillor Colston before the last county council elections in 2005 and for which there is ‘no money’.
